I am a maker, a teacher, an author, a designer, and a life long student. Through my artwork, teaching, and career goals, I strive to blend helping others with personal growth.

 

Teaching

  • Instructor and Visiting Artist at schools, museums, and art centers

  • Math Art Workshops using artwork and hands on activities to have fun with math, includes “Polyhedra Parties” with 3D coloring books Cubes and Things

  • Tutor of math for Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, and basic K-8 math skills. I also develop my own special lessons on fun ideas in math, how they have developed over the centuries, and I combine those ideas with a math art activity

  • Weaving and dyeing Instructor since 2003

  • Computer Jacquard weaving Instructor

  • Taught many textiles techniques including: spinning, basketry, knit, crochet, felt, embroidery, sewing, silk screening, shibori, and other resist techniques

  • Have taught people from ages 5 - 80 in a classroom setting

  • If I learn how to do a thing, I can teach it

  • +20 years of weaving and dyeing experience

  • Very wide textiles skill set - regularly use: spinning, basketry, triaxial weaving, sewing, and weaving

  • Working in a variety of mediums: metal, plastic, glass, wood, and paper

  • Painting with watercolor, acrylic, and oils

  • Graphic Designer, proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Pointcarré

  • Utilize current technologies including laser cutting, soft circuit, integrating LEDs into artwork, basic programing with Arduino and Processing, and stop motion videos

  • Computer Jacquard: software Pointcarré & Photoshop, loom maintenance, and weaving

  • Administered a $40,000 yearly, multi-line budget

  • Oversaw facilities: Weaving Studio, Print Studio, Dye Lab, and Fiber Sculpture Studio

  • Worked with faculty and students on proper use of technology and equipment

  • Mentored undergraduate and graduate students as they started work in their first-year and throughout their academic career
